PHOTOGRAPH THE LARGEST FRESHWATER LAKE IN THE WORLD
Welcome to an extraordinary photography workshop set against the breathtaking backdrop of Lake Baikal, nestled in a remote region of Eastern Siberia. Lake Baikal, often described as a natural wonder, captivates with its stunning beauty and stands as the largest and deepest freshwater lake globally, inviting photographers to capture its unique and mesmerizing features.
The workshop will unfold in January, offering participants the chance to witness the marvel of Baikal's frozen surface. The ice covering the lake is a genuine masterpiece of nature, displaying an intricate tapestry of cracks, bubbles, and chips. What makes this spectacle truly remarkable is that the patterns are never repeated, creating an ever-changing canvas of frozen artistry.
The ice itself exhibits a diverse range of colors, transitioning from pristine white to piercing blue and even cosmic black, adding an extra layer of visual intrigue.
Stepping onto the frozen expanse of Lake Baikal is an experience like no other. Underneath your feet lies a staggering one kilometer of water, a fact that might induce awe and perhaps a touch of excitement. However, fear not, as the thick layer of solid ice beneath you ensures a secure and enchanting exploration of this surreal winter wonderland.
One of the highlights of this adventure is the opportunity to capture the ethereal beauty of icicles that hang in their thousands from ice caves on offshore islands. These natural formations, both delicate and intricate, present an exquisite subject for photographers, adding another layer of enchantment to the already spellbinding scene.
The workshop promises a unique journey into the heart of this frozen paradise, providing participants with the chance to hone their photography skills in an environment like no other. With expert guidance and the otherworldly landscapes of Lake Baikal as your canvas, this workshop is not just a photography session but an immersion into a surreal world of natural artistry. Join us on this remarkable adventure, where each moment frozen in time will become a cherished memory and a stunning image captured through the lens.
PLEASE NOTE - temperatures at this time of year in Baikal can be -20 below zero. We will suggest the right gear you need to stay warm, but if you don't like the cold, this workshop is not for you. Please contact us if you have any questions.
