PHOTOGRAPH THE TIGERS OF INDIA
To see a tiger in the wild for the very first time is like something you’ll never forget.
It’s better than what you can imagine.
To experience these astonishing creatures first hand, finding words to describe that feeling is hard, it simply takes your breath away. It will be an experience that you will always cherish.
Listening out to the distress calls of Chital, Sambar and langurs, there is nothing to compare with the excitement of looking for and trying to predict where the tiger would appear, and then finding a tiger in the wild. What an incredible thrill that is. Seeing these apex predators in their natural habitat is simply beyond compare. But sighting one of these beautiful striped cats requires a real play of strategy and teamwork between drivers, naturalists and guides in order to attempt outsmarting this shy and elusive stripy predator. Come with me and discover the crown jewel of India’s natural heritage - the magnificent royal Bengal tiger!
We will visit two locations for this safari - Bandhavgarh National Park and Ranthambore National Park. Bandhavgarh National Park is the place with the highest density of tigers on earth, is situated in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The park has a wonderfully varied landscape, from its open meadows, tall exposed mountain sides with steep rocky hills and secluded lakes, to the densely wooded Saal and bamboo forest. The combination of thick jungle and open grass plains gives a diverse game viewing experience.
Ranthambore National Park is India's most visited tiger reserve, situated in the desert state of Rajasthan. It hosts one of the highest densities of tigers in India for virtually guaranteed encounters.
The park is an intoxicating mix of nature, history and wildlife which also boasts a plethora of fauna besides the tiger. Ranthambore is a dry-deciduous forest, which means that there is very little undergrowth and most of the trees shed their leave in the dry season. Out of all the tiger reserves in India, Ranthambore gets the least amount of rainfall and, as a result, there are very few patches with tall grasses. This makes the tigers less camouflaged and easier to photograph.
Plus, it has an excellent network of forest tracks. All of these factors contribute to some great tiger sightings throughout the year.
Experiencing tigers in the wilds of India are probably one of the most amazing experiences you will ever have.
I do hope you can join us on this safari.
Cheers Tom
